Youngman in the Barnet Vermont Presbyterian Records (1789 to 1823)

"... It is hard for us to realize the Barnet of 1790. The census of that year gives 94 families, the population being 572. As nearly as we can tell, there were only a few roads laid out and in some manner made passable. There was not a four-wheeled vehicle in town of any kind, and no roads fit for its use had there been such. A very few frames houses had been built, but most of the people lived in log cabins. ... People traveled on foot or on horseback, and no newspaper was published within sixty miles. ..." - History of Barnet, Vermont Both John and Thomas Youngman lived in Barnet, Caledonia/Orange Vermont.  Both were listed as living there on the first 1790 U.S. Census with their wives and children. John Youngman is listed in the Church records and his children are listed as baptized at the Presbyterian church.
